Changes are coming to the Ennis area ambulance service. Starting May 1, the Madison Valley Medical Center will take over where the volunteer-staffed Ennis Ambulance Service will leave off, following a decision made in late 2020 by the Town of Ennis and MVMC.
Tom Urell and Jim Singer were out hiking up Jack Creek Trail, U.S. Forest Service Trail 6317, about 10 miles east of Ennis, Mont on Jan. 27. Both men were familiar with the area and were experienced outdoorsmen—both hunters and Singer formally employed at Glacier National Park.
From Jan. 31-Feb. 7, Madison County reported 16 new positive coronavirus cases. In the past seven days, 122 residents were quarantined.
The majority of the 122 quarantined could be tied back to eight people, Madison County Public Health Nurse Melissa Brummell said.
Plans are fluid as local teams look forward to tournament time. Initially, all tournaments were set to be held in Butte at the Maroon Activity Center, but that plan was scratched in early January due to Covid concerns.

On Jan. 26 the Madison County Health Department issued an order to extend the current mask mandate for all residents and businesses for 60 days in Madison County, requiring anyone in public to wear a face covering.
From Jan. 24-31, Madison County reported 12 new coronavirus cases. Three residents are currently hospitalized and one more death has been recorded, bringing the cumulative total to seven. Thirty residents are in quarantine.
Madison County high schoolers attended state speech and debate virtually this year.
It had been several years since the Ennis Mustangs had a matchup against the West Yellowstone Wolverines, so when the Wolverines came to Ennis on Jan. 29 there were plenty of unknowns about how the bout would play out.
