Emergency landing

Engine trouble was to blame for the emergency landing of a small aircraft in Shining Mountains West on Dec. 19. No one was injured and no damage was sustained to the single engine plane which touched down high on Golden Eagle Drive.

Celebrate safely

From Dec. 13-20, Madison County reported 15 new coronavirus cases. Sixty-five residents are in quarantine and there has been one additional hospitalization. There are 46 active cases in the county.

Giving spirit

While giving opportunities remained somewhat the same, the giving spirit increased this year in Madison County.

At the Town Pump in Ennis, Mont., approximately $6,140 was donated to the Madison Valley Caring and Sharing Food Bank from the beginning of October through Thanksgiving. Town Pump matches donations dollar for dollar.

Christmas in county schools

This holiday season, school districts in Madison County moved their Christmas concerts and plays from the stage to the screen. Ennis, Alder, Harrison and Sheridan School Districts all opted to film students’ performances and distribute them to parents online.

Drop in positivity rate

On Tuesday, Montana reported 803 new coronavirus cases, according to the Governor’s Coronavirus Task Force update.

According to Gov. Steve Bullock and U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, the Covid-19 positivity rate in Montana has dropped from a peak of 20% in November to 14% through Dec. 10.

Trends

Housing prices are going up and inventory is going down across the Ruby and Madison Valleys.

The Madison Valley has experienced a huge jump in prices from 2019-2020 while the Ruby Valley felt a more modest increase from 2018-2020 due to more limited inventory.
