Madison County towns of Ennis and Twin Bridges voted on town council seats, while Virginia City residents voted on a temporary 1 percent increase in their resort tax. Mailed-in ballots or ballots filled out at the Madison County Annex building for the 2019 Municipal General Elections were accepted until 8 p.m. Nov. 5.
The Ennis Mustangs were behind the Absarokee Huskies before Maida Knapton and Wyatt Fredson were announced homecoming king and queen. The Huskies scored twice before the Mustangs reached the endzone toward the end of the second quarter. The second half started with the Huskies leading by six points.

The Falcons volleyball team traveled to White Sulphur Spring to take on the Hornets Sept. 27. The competition was close throughout the game, but the Hornets came out on top in five rounds.
According to an assessment from Safe Tech Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes in emergency medical services, the long-term sustainability of the Ennis Ambulance Service is questionable. Stakeholders of EAS met in the Madison Valley Bank conference room to discuss the assessment Aug. 12.
On July 17, an Aviat-1A Husky crashed into a meadow 35 miles south of Ennis. Allen Kenitzer, with the Office of Communications at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), described this type of plane as a, “two-seat, high-wing, utility aircraft,” via email correspondence.
The Earl Holt and John Seaman Memorial Scholarship funds raised $10,351 at the 11TH annual Texas Hold’em charity tournament. Forty-four players joined together at the Silver Dollar to raise this impressive amount that will be awarded to seniors at Ennis High School. Phase one of the Madison River Foundation’s Three Dollar Bridge Riparian Restoration Project, consisting of constructing a wooden plank-bridge trail over the wetland area, was completed on June 3. The second phase of installing and removing electric fencing started the next day.
ENNIS — A 17-year-old male was attacked by a bear south of Ennis on Sunday. He fortunately survived the attack with relatively minor injuries.
The teen and his family were visiting their cabin in Wolf Creek, about 30 miles south of Ennis, on the east side of the Madison Valley. He was out looking for shed antlers in the area.
