SHERIDAN -- Sheridan residents likely will see a water rate increase in the near future, due to the need for a new well and the loss of state funding for its water project. During its meeting Monday, Sheridan council received a briefing from Dan Kramer with Montana Rural Water, which included a preliminary rate proposal for the town.
SHERIDAN -- Sheridan has received a $5,000 grant from the Turner Foundation’s Community Youth Initiative, according to Rodney Stout, local coordinator of the Sheridan Turner Youth Initiative Committee which sponsors the initiative in Sheridan.
VIRGINIA CITY -- Virginia City Town Council is taking action against the owner of four small sheds in violation of town zoning ordinances - but decided to give the sheds' owner more time to take action. Council approved a second letter to shed owner Billy Doyle during it Feb. 1 meeting.
VIRGINIA CITY - Madison County airports fared well with recent funding decisions affecting both the Ennis-Big Sky Airport and Twin Bridges Airport. The Madison County Airport Board heard an update from Robert Peccia and Associates engineer Lance Bowser during its meeting on Jan. 31 at the administrative building in Virginia City.
ENNIS – The Madison County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received information regarding a threat to the Ennis school last Wednesday at 9:05 a.m., and immediately notified the school. Law enforcement responded and the school was briefly placed in lock down.
