Ennis Town Council held a special meeting March 13 to review the town's updated draft zoning ordinance. If council enacts the draft, following work sessions and public hearings, it would replace the current town zoning ordinance in its entirety. The current Ennis zoning regulations were enacted in 2002.

A truck and trailer carrying 223 pigs rolled over on Montana Highway 84, mile marker 6.8, at approximately 2:12 p.m. on March 22, causing an extended highway closure.
Smithson issued $50,000 bail order
Jeb Floyd Smithson appeared at the Madison County Courthouse on March 26 for a bond hearing. Smithson is charged with failing to register as a violent offender, theft and obstructing a peace officer.
Madison County Sheriff Roger Thompson reported a 30-year-old male was found dead in Virginia City on Feb. 19. The body has been identified as John Frederick Dahm of Libby, Mont.
Since the start of the year, 19 thefts have been reported to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Ennis Police Department. Of most concern are seven of these thefts, where the suspects are targeting storage units, homes and out-buildings on victims' properties.
Election season is fast approaching, as filings for county positions have officially closed. According to the Montana Secretary of State’s website, candidate filing for both legislative and non-legislative positions also closed on March 12.
TWIN BRIDGES -- Twin Bridges town council approved two resolutions during its March 13 meeting, stating the town's intent to raise water and sewer rates. The town is raising rates to balance its water and sewer budgets, pay off a sewer system revenue bond, and build up a reserve fund for future repairs and upgrades.
