Schools

It’s safe to say that things are busy in our area schools, and Harrison Schools is no different. During their March 12 regular meeting, board members were informed of upcoming ski trips, Washington D.C. trips, prom, track season starting, student testing, Easter break, parent-teacher conferences, the school play, and more.

For FCCLA, Rachel Zielinski of the Sheridan FCCLA chapter chose the project ‘Focus on Children’. She decided to work with 6^th graders to improve their self-esteem. Rachel went into the 6th grade class and presented a PowerPoint and did activities with them.

Ennis Schools had a great showing at the Regional Science Fairs held at Montana Tech in Butte. The Division I Regional Science Fair was held on Mon., March 5 and the Division II Regional Science Fair was held on Thurs., March 8. The high school participants brought home the 2nd Place Small Schools Trophy.

The Rural School Science Fair was held on March 2 at the University of Montana Western in Dillon. Eight rural schools from Beaverhead, Silver Bow and Madison counties participated. Students in grades K-8 competed in this event with many science categories.

Twenty-one students from around the county converged at the Madison County Administrative building in Virginia City for the county-wide spelling bee. Sheridan eighth grader Rachel Zielinski repeated as champion during the Feb. 27 competition, correctly spelling “yacht” and “caribou” in the final rounds of play.
