ENNIS—With homecoming festivities complete, the Ennis School Board turned its attention to the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 12.
MADISON COUNTY - As the school year gets rolling for districts around Madison County, local bus drivers and law enforcement continue to deal with drivers ignoring regulations involving school buses.
ENNIS—Balmy late-summer weather matched Ennis High School’s homecoming theme of a tropical luau: parade floats on Friday, September 7 featured palm trees, leis and water guns on an 80-degree afternoon.
ENNIS—The Ennis school board approved a new budget that’s slightly less than last year’s at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 15. They also discussed the school’s partnership with Ennis police officer John Moore and several staff and coaching changes.
HARRISON—The Harrison school board held its last monthly meeting before the start of the new school year on Monday, August 13, and the primary item on the agenda was the approval of the annual budget for fiscal year 2019, which looks slightly smaller than last year’s.
CARDWELL— James Carmody remembers many of the antics he got up to as a boy at Cardwell School. Some of the most exciting involve the use of wax paper on an old-fashioned slide fire escape in order to make it a speedier ride.
ENNIS—A recent federal report surveyed school districts around the country and found that fewer than half of them regularly test for lead in their water supplies.
SHERIDAN—The Sheridan school board held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 10, at which primary topics of discussion were the planned renovation of the high school’s football field area, an update on the district’s audit and review and adjustment of several of the district’s policies and forms.
MADISON COUNTY—The Annie E. Casey Foundation released its KIDS COUNT Data Book for 2018 on Wednesday, June 27.
ENNIS - Will Gilmore has earned some time off.
He just graduated from Ennis High School, the class president and co-valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA, Honor Society member, having filled his extracurricular hours with athletics and community service.
