Ennis Volleyball gets back to winning ways with sweep of Whitehall
The Ennis Mustangs solidified their hold on third place in the Southern B Division volleyball standings with a 3-0 sweep of the Whitehall Trojans on Oct. 2. The win takes the Mustangs to six and three on the season and keeps them within two games of second place Jefferson.
Marissa Snider tallied 10 kills in the match to go along with Isabella Hawkinson’s team leading 14. Ennis tallied 38 kills, 60 digs, nine aces and five blocks in the effort. Setter Taya Keller had 11 assists and middle Addi Rowe led the team with two blocks.
Next up for the Mustangs is a home match against West Yellowstone on Oct. 9. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Sheridan football goes on the road and beats Manhattan Christian 38-12
The Sheridan Panthers were led by senior James Reedy who tallied four touchdowns, 101 yards rushing, 175 yards passing, two tackles and an interception in their 38-12 road win against Manhattan Christian. The win moved the Panthers record to four wins and one loss and kept them tied for second place in the Southern Eight Man standings with Ennis.
Sophomore Charles Larsen scored a touchdown rushing and receiving while earning 123 total yards and making five tackles. Senior Haze Hardy led the team with seven and a half tackles to go along with a sack and a recovered onside kick. Freshman Grady Elser rushed twice for 40 yards and scored a touchdown.
“It was a wet and rainy afternoon game that was hard fought on both sides,”
Said head coach Tyler Lott. “We had guys in new positions step up and play well. Senior James Reedy was a work horse and had a stellar offensive performance. Senior Haze Hardy and sophomore Logan McDougal were the top defensive performers. It was a solid conference win for us.”
Next up for Sheridan is a home game against undefeated Drummund-Phillipsburg. The game is Oct. 10 and kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Twin Bridges loses on the road to undefeated Drummund-Phillipsburg 46-14
“We played the machine that is known as Flint Creek this week,” said Falcons head coach Bo Herak describing the game. “ We made a nice opening drive that ended in a tip ball interception, unfortunately. Then we got a pick of our own, but we just couldn’t capitalize early, and against a team like that you have to make plays when you have the chance.”
Brandt Nelson for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Hunter Turk and Flint Janzen were on the receiving end of the touchdowns. Janzen led the team with 10 tackles and an interception to go along with his 117 receiving yards. Ethan Babcock and Hunter Turk both had five tackles.
“I’m proud of my boys and never giving up,” continued Herak. “We have a bye and it’s coming at the right time for us, as we are a little beat up. Time to get mentally and physically ready for our last two games. Which are against Ennis and Sheridan to finish the year and hopefully make it into the playoffs.”
Ennis bounces back and punishes Lame Deer on the road
The Ennis Mustangs bounced back from their home loss against Drummund-Phillipsburg to put up a 57-7 win on the road against Lame Deer.
Senior quarterback Brandon Foss threw for two touchdowns and over 100 yards and added a rushing touchdown to his season total. Brummie Boggus, John Hostetler and Brock Sneed scored rushing touchdowns. Running back Wyatt Doty had a pair. Hostetler and Wyatt Williams both had receiving touchdowns.
Owen Koljonen and Tatum Todd both led the team with 4 solo tackles a piece while Doty had 3 tackles for a loss.
Next up for the Mustangs is a home game against Park City on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
Twin Bridges volleyball scores two wins and jumps into second place
The Twin Bridges Falcons volleyball team swept Shields Valley and West Yellowstone last week to move into second place in the Western C division standings. Their reported record is four wins and two losses on the season.
Next up for the Falcons is a home match against Whitehall followed by a trip to White Sulphur Springs on Oct. 14.
