Pony Poker Ride 2020
Riders saddled up for the 16th annual Pony Poker Ride June 20. Blue sky and Hollowtop Mountain backdropped the horseback poker game. The Sitz Angus Ranch in Harrison hosted the Pony Homecoming Club fundraiser of 82 players. Winning hands received cash prizes and the rest of the proceeds went toward restoring historic buildings in Pony and community events. The PHC’s immediate project is restoring the damage on the 118-year-old schoolhouse in Pony. Over $2,000 was raised with the poker ride. Players had four card stations in the 12-mile loop of the game. Certain precautions and permits were applied to the event for safety reasons due to COVID-19. Groups staggered their departure and it was fairly natural to keep a safe distance on horseback.
