Panthers struggle but win in Lone Peak
The Panthers rolled into the Big Sky area with high hopes of winning big against the Big Horns who have struggled with their young team. It was not to be so for the Panthers who started the game with a high snap over quarterback Kole Hill’s head and into the end zone for a safety on the first play. The struggles continued throughout the game with a lethargic passing game and a sub-par running game. The lone standout was the defense, which remained solid throughout the game. In the end, the Panther boys put together enough offense to prevail 21-16 and walked away from Lone Peak with a win. There were some bright spots for the Panthers with Hartson Van Houten putting in a solid game on both sides of the ball and Cade Cathey who struggled against Twin Bridges came through with some solid open field tackles and was much improved on his pass defense. Overall, although it was a victory it was a lackluster performance by the Panthers.
The Panthers had 117 rushing yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns and completed 10 of 18 passes for 92 yards and one touchdown. Hartson Van Houten had 11 tackles and an interception, Kaiden Batzler had 8 tackles, and Cade Cathey had 5 tackles and an interception.
