The Mustangs held the Huskies in Absarokee scoreless for the first quarter of the football game Sept. 25. Ennis defense allowed only two touchdowns the whole game, taking the win with a 34-point lead.
Ennis junior Jacob Johnson put up the first points at the end of the first quarter, with a 34-yard run and then a 4-yard run into the end zone. Ennis finished the first quarter up by 14 points. The first half ended with little success from both teams. The second half was slow to start for Ennis but about seven minutes in, Johnson made an impressive 38- yard run into the end zone. With the ball returned to the Huskies, Ennis defensive lineman Tyler Sciuchetti intercepted the throw. Sciuchetti made the touchdown and secured the two-point conversion. Ennis senior Jarrett Jenkins ran for 15 yards for another Ennis touchdown. For the second time in the game, the Mustangs’ defense left the Huskies scoreless in a quarter.
Ennis started the fourth quarter with a touchdown. Freshman quarterback Clintin Buyan connected with Ian Swanson with an 11-yard pass into the end zone. Absarokee had the last score-play of the game, but the Mustangs were too far ahead for the Huskies to catch up. Ennis earned their first “W” of the 2020 football season.
