MMLGA update

Fewest putts and a shout out to the Joan Schilling Scholarship

It’s not always about golf. While we all enjoy golfing, there are other benefits of being a member of the MMLGA.

Each year, the League awards two $500.00 scholarships to qualifying seniors. The scholarships are named in honor of Joan Schilling, a beloved member of the Ennis Community. Joan touched many individuals in truly special ways. She was a strong supporter of women’s sports and was a wonderful mentor for the young women in the Ennis and surrounding areas. A portion of the member dues are used to fund these philanthropic efforts.

Another goal of our League is to encourage young women to experience golf. The game is so much more than seeing how far you can hit a ball, it teaches patience, respect, confidence, and perseverance. Our youngest fan, Miley Burke, enjoys riding in the carts, cheering the gals on the and states, “the greens are the best place for a cartwheel”. Every now and then, Miley will take a few practice swings on her favorite hole. Perhaps we have another potential member in the making.

This weeks game was fewest putts. A steady hand, good eye sight, and a smooth stroke all contribute to a successful putting experience.
