Ennis softball wins two against Anaconda
The Mustangs got back to their winning ways on the back of two exceptional pitching performances by Adi Wood
The Ennis Mustangs softball team traveled to Anaconda and started a new winning streak on April 14 with 16-1 and 6-4 wins in the double header.
“The bats came alive, especially in the first game,” said head coach Andy Thomas. “We cleaned things up defensively. We did a nice job of keeping the runners checked. Ruby Boggus caught 3 runners stealing on the day.”
Boggus also caught a pair of outstanding performances by pitcher Adi Wood.
“In the first game Adi Wood pitched a strong game keeping them off balance giving up just one hit,” said Thomas. “She came on in relief and had 12 strikeouts and 0 ER in game two.”
Everyone in the Mustangs’ lineup recorded a hit in the first game of the double header. Addi Rowe went 3 for 3 and 1 RBI. Kahryn Vaudrin was 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs and Boggus added three RBIs of her own.
In the second game Vaudrin went 2 for 3 with 3 more RBIs and Boggus added two more hits and another RBI to her impressive day.
“The girls are progressing well,” Thomas continued. “To compete with the best in this conference and the state is a formidable task. We're right there but if we keep working and stay focused the sky is the limit with this group. It's a process and my hope is we are learning from each game, each practice rep, applying that, and playing our best ball when Divisionals roll around.”
The Mustangs are scheduled to play a home double header against Deer Lodge on April 23 and then they will head to Florence to face Florence-Carlton on the 25th.
