Congratulations to Lauren Cima and Shelbey Klein

Ennis and Harrison girls receive All-American Status in their collegiate sports

The All American Status is a prestigious honor awarded to athletes who perform exceptionally well at the national championships. Lauren Cima from Harrison placed 6th in the shot put with a throw of 14.21 meters and Shelbey Klein from Ennis placed 5th in the Javelin with a throw of 42.00 meters earning them both their first career All-American Status. Congratulations to both of these athletes and their accomplishments this season!

“It has been a long year of training and pushing myself mentally and physically. It took a lot of focus on improving my technique and strength along with finding the right mindset to get me there. I would like to thank my coach, Alan Cress and my teammates for guiding me every step of the way and believing I could do it even when I thought I couldn’t. I would also like to thank the community for all of the support they have shown me! I am truly grateful for all of the experiences and opportunities that were presented to me this year and I will be eternally grateful for the constant support from my family, friends and community!” stated Lauren Cima.

“I have worked extremely hard in the weight room and at practice to get to where I am today. I knew that I was a bit behind coming into throws after I decided not to play volleyball in college anymore, so I spent extra time trying to catch up and get to the top level. I would like to thank my coach for helping me achieve my goals, my teammates for pushing me to succeed, and my family for constantly supporting me. I think that it is important to remember that sometimes things can work out even if it wasn't your original plan. I went to college thinking that I was going to play volleyball and then I spent a few practices with the javelin team at UP and realized that it was where I was going to succeed. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to play both sports in college, but I know that track and field is the team for me,” said Klein.
