Class B Southern Division Golf Tournament
Three advance to state
The Ennis Golf teams competed at the Class B Southern Division golf tournament at the Lake Hills Golf Course in Billings on Monday, May 5.
The top 15 individuals from both the boys and girls team qualify for state as well as the top four teams for boys and girls.
“It was a tough day weather wise, rain most of the day, chilly temperatures and some wind.
Our players hung in there all day!” stated Ennis Golf Coach Steve Filer.
The final results:
John Hostetler and Riley Reynolds tied for 10th place and will be advancing to the State Tournament.
Marisa Snider finished in 4th and will be joining the boys at State.
The State Golf Tournament will be held at the Marias Valley Golf Course and Country Club in Shelby. A practice round will be held on Monday, May 12 with the tournament following on Tuesday, May 13 and 14.
“Our boys and girls teams battled all day, just missing out by a few strokes for qualifying as teams to advance to State. We’ve had a great year, both Varsity and Junior Varsity and I am really proud of all of our players. I want to thank the players for a great year and a special thank you to the booster club and several moms for all they do to support this team! Now onto State. Go Mustangs!” said Filer.
Ennis Golf Coach Brooke Channel added, “Our team is continuing to grow and develop. We had quite a few students who had never swung a club at the beginning of the season and they stuck it through and did amazing. We are proud of our captain John Hostetler, he rose above and beyond in his leadership role helping his teammates and being an overall wonderful leader for our team. We would like to thank several of the parents that have traveled to watch and support our players. They have stuck with us going to almost every meet.”
