In the vast and often rugged landscape of Madison County, where the pace of life is slow and the people are resilient, a humble but vital service is quietly making a difference. The Madison County Shuttle, voted into existence in 2010 and spearheaded by the late Barbie Durham, stands as a testament to the power of community initiative.
The Frontier Event Center in Dillon hosted Bicentennial, Inc. for their Senior Banquet. A traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings was set atop white linens to honor seniors of Dillon and the Ruby Valley. Approximately one-hundred and ninety people were in attendance.
This is the second graduating high school class to celebrate this milestone amidst a pandemic.
Could senior cooperative housing, a model gaining popularity in states with aging populations, be the solution to alleviating social isolation and population loss in Montana’s rural small towns?
