Ennis qualifies 13 for national FCCLA Conference

Family, Career & Community Leaders of America

ENNIS – It was another excellent year for Ennis at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference, taking place March 21-22. This year the conference moved to MSU in Bozeman, and students were able to take advantage of the university connection, participating in workshops and trainings led by faculty and staff.

In addition to networking and education opportunities, Ennis students competed against the entire state of Montana, regardless of school size, walking away with many first place finishes.

Alyssa West completed her term as a state officer for the organization, as well as competing and placing first in Life Event Planning, creating a portfolio planning and costing out her transition to college.

Logan Crowley took first place in Fashion Construction with her handmade blouse and trouser outfit.

Jourdain Klein, Whitney McKitrick, and Landri Paladichuk took first place in Promote and Publicize FCCLA with their project on building local membership through positive social media interactions.

Dillon Williams, Bo Kelley, and Lucas Belding took first place in Food Innovations with their food product creation of the CRAV3 cake, a rich olive oil chocolate cake, topped with white chocolate vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

In the junior category of the Food Innovations event, Madison Allen, Taylor Barney and Ellawynn Morrison also took first place with their product, Mestoli, a gluten-, dairy- and nut-free take on the Italian arancini.  Third place in that event went to Shelbey Klein and Shae Lovett with their Mini Macs, a bite size bacon, mac and cheese appetizer.

Kara Elliott and Maddie Barness won second place in the Interior Design category with their design concept, High Tide, a boutique hotel located in Sanibel Island, Florida.

Rounding out the group were Elina Dilschneider, Avery Oliver, and Olivia Lohrenz, who received a bronze medal in Entrepreneurship for their Build-A-Bra business plan and concept.

Thirteen of Ennis’s 18 students qualified to attend and compete at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California this summer. They will join students from Sheridan and Twin Bridges schools to represent Madison County at the national competition.
