Three Virginia City residents joined the November ballot for Madison County’s District One commissioner seat on deadline- day.

Eli Thompson, David Bacon, Robert Erdahl and incumbent Dan Allhands are running for the county commissioner seat that represents Virginia City, Alder and Sheridan. District One residents will elect one of four candidates to the seat November 2020.

“We need change in leadership,” Virginia City Mayor Justin Gatewood said.

The Virginia City Town Council has been dissatisfied with its relationship with the county in recent years. The town has specific standards as a national historic place and the county seat, which can be difficult to accommodate at the same time. A lack of communication between the two entities has added to the complication and frustration among some.
