Cody Marxer honored

Named 2025 Lewis & Clark Floodplain Administrator of the Year award for the state of Montana
“It is a pleasure to work with Cody. Her dedication, leadership and intelligence make this award so deserved. Madison County is lucky to have her,” wrote Kacey Smart, Madison County Sanitarian's Office.

Cody Marxer, Madison County  Planning Director and Floodplain Administrator, was awarded the 2025 Lewis & Clark Floodplain Administrator of the Year award for the state of Montana. This honor is awarded to one of the 120+ floodplain managers throughout Montana, on behalf of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), to an individual who has significantly contributed to reducing flood risk within their jurisdiction, through effective floodplain management, and who demonstrates extraordinary community outreach/education and leadership in the field.

“I have the pleasure of working with a large number of talented individuals but Cody Marxer is one of the hardest working and intelligent people working for Madison County.  Her expertise and professionalism is unmatched and we’re all lucky to have her running our planning department,” commented Bill Todd, Madison County Commissioner.

“I am beyond honored (and surprised) to have received this award but am mostly proud of the excellent work being done in Madison County, specific to responsible floodplain management. Floodplain management is complex but when landowners and the County are working toward the same goals of public safety and water resource management, really positive outcomes are achieved. I am so grateful to be working alongside a positive cohort at the County, including our incredible Planning, Sanitarian, County Attorney and Commissioner departments, and also the reliable crew at the DNRC Floodplain program,” said Marxer.

Marxer’s colleagues were quick to chime in about the well deserved accolades.

“It is a pleasure to work with Cody. Her dedication, leadership and intelligence make this award so deserved. Madison County is lucky to have her,” wrote Kacey Smart, Madison County Sanitarian's Office.
