July 23, 2020, Melissa Brummell, RN, Public Health Director reports five new positive COVID-19 cases since July 18, 2020, making 52 positive cases with 16 cases being active. All active positive cases are in isolation. In the past week we have had an additional 68 individuals listed as close contact with the new positive cases.

Early 1800s: Grizzly bears ranged from Alaska to Mexico and to the western shores of the Hudson Bay. Approximately 50,000 grizzlies lived in this area during the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

1959: Approximately 200 grizzlies counted in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE).

Summer is upon Madison County, which means people are taking advantage of the blue skies in the backcountry. But one must never assume to know what Montana’s fickle weather will bring or mazes her forests can create.

Madison County Sanitarian Van Puckett spoke with each Madison County school superintendent about plans for the upcoming school year.

“They’re all doing a great job working toward the same common goal,” Puckett said. “Each one is looking at the health and wellbeing of the students and staff.”

Two Madison County locals graduated from the Montana Youth Challenge Academy June 27.

"His mobile home was not livable,” said Missoula Aging Services (MAS) Resource Specialist Linda Howard, about a client she worked with in Seeley Lake. This was not a problem Howard or MAS had the resources to address directly, but she knew people who did.

Madison County has the fourth highest COVID-19 cases per capita in the state as of July 21.

As of July 18, 2020, Melissa Brummell, RN, Public Health Director reports 11 new positive COVID-19 cases since July 12, 2020, making 44 positive cases with 24 cases being active. All active positive cases are in isolation. In the past week we have an additional 100 individuals listed as close contact with the new positive cases.
