Hardship Fears
The coronavirus has dealt a major blow to the economy of southwest Montana. The enforced closure of all bars and restaurants along with the decision by many small businesses to shut up shop, means added pressure on an already struggling workforce. That coupled with the threat of illness is putting added pressure on many low income families.
As people wait to see what official assistance is going to be made available, landlords have been asked to take an understanding approach to struggling renters.
One local man, who asked to remain anonymous said, “We do understand why we are having to close our restaurants but it’s
a frightening situation for us to be in. We live pay check to pay check and I just don’t know how long we can last. My wife and I are praying we will stay healthy.”
