Sheridan Days showcases the best of the Ruby Valley

The Sheridan Community Charitable Foundation’s annual event had something for darn near everyone and created a weekend where everyone could stop and focus on being a community

The Sheridan Community Charitable Foundation (SCCF) is in the business of nurturing the power of community and making the town of Sheridan a great place to live. Their efforts were on full display for the annual Sheridan Days weekend, one of their four big fundraising events a year.

With the first cutting of hay baled and stacked and the madness of the Fourth of July past, it was a great time for everyone to take a weekend to come together with their neighbors. The weekend showcased three nights of live music, community dinners in the park, a run, parade, horseshoe tournament, dodgeball games, art walk, a pancake breakfast, duck races and a cornhole competition. Community organizations like Ruby Valley Search and Rescue, The Volunteer Fire Department and Jackson’s Garden joined the SCCF in bringing people together and raising money to support their organizations and the work they do in the community.

The SCCF showcased their newest addition to Ray Silve Memorial Park by utilizing their recently constructed pavilion to serve concessions. The pavilion joins the amphitheater and the new playground equipment, both of which also saw plenty of use on the weekend, as high profile contributions to the community that the SCCF has invested in with their fundraising efforts.  The next projects for the foundation are improvements to the baseball fields in the park and the creation and enhancement of a walking path.

While the community upgrades are what people notice, the biggest contribution the SCCF makes to the town of Sheridan is bringing people from all different walks of life together and helping them remember that when we are part of a community, we are part of something bigger than ourselves. In a world where we focus all too often on our differences and disagreements, the SCCF lead by example in reminding us how good it feels to come together.

Next up for the SCCF is their Octoberfest fundraiser on October 11. More information including how to get involved or donate to the SCCF is available at www.sccfmt.com.
