Ennis Lions Fall Bingo and Halloween Carnival

A night of fun, frights and fantastic community spirit

The Ennis Lions Club once again brought the community together for an evening of laughter and celebration on October 31, hosting the annual Halloween Carnival in the Ennis Elementary Gym and Fall Bingo in the School Lunchroom. The event was filled with fun, excitement, and community pride from start to finish.

Carnival fun for all ages

The Lions were proud to host the Carnival, joined by an outstanding lineup of local organizations that operated the booths. Thank you to Madison County Cattlewomen, Ennis Booster Club, Yeehaws & Outlaws 4H, Ennis Pickleball, World Strides, Madison Valley Shooting Sports, Ennis Speech & Debate, and Ennis Business Professionals of America (BPA) for helping make the evening a success.

One of the highlights was the reintroduction of the goldfish prizes, bringing back nostalgic memories of carnivals past. Generations still recall Mrs. Northway’s famous goldfish booth with affection—and this year’s children were just as delighted to win their very own fish to take home.

BPA once again created a thrilling Haunted House, with lines stretching across the gym most of the evening, while the Booster Club’s photo booth was a crowd favorite—thank you, Mandy, for capturing those memorable moments.

The costume contest was also well attended and, as always, it proved difficult to choose the winners in each age group. From creative homemade outfits to spooky classics, the parade of costumes added even more color and excitement to the night’s festivities.

Special thanks go to the Lions who decorated and set up the booths and to those who stayed late to take everything down and clean up the gym. Co-chairs Lions Marilyn and Tara did an outstanding job leading the event with enthusiasm and organization. The school custodial staff deserve heartfelt appreciation for their behind-the-scenes help, always ready to “sweep in” and assist wherever needed.

A big thank you also goes to Laura Newman for her help in selling 50-50 raffle tickets throughout the evening. One lucky winner took home 50% of the proceeds, while the remaining 50% was divided among the participating carnival booths—helping make the night even more profitable for the community organizations involved.

Bingo, prizes and community impact

While the kids enjoyed the Carnival, the Bingo Hall next door was packed with players ready for an evening of friendly competition. With twenty-plus games valued at over $300 each, the excitement was high. Homemade treats from the Lions, refreshing Harrington’s Pepsi, and fresh popcorn made the evening even better.

The Fall Bingo is one of the Ennis Lions’ larger fundraisers, helping the club serve the community through initiatives such as maintaining the Ennis Lions Park, providing eye testing in all Madison County schools, assisting with vision and hearing needs, supporting student scholarships, and sponsoring science fair awards, just to name a few.

For years, Lions Bob and Dee have been the Masters of the Bingo Universe—wrangling prizes, sponsors, and fellow Lions with skill and good humor. Between requesting, following up, picking up, bundling, labeling, and keeping everyone organized, they make an enormous task look easy.
