VIRGINIA CITY—At their weekly meeting on Tuesday, October 2, the Madison County commissioners voted to lift the countywide burn ban now that the 2018 fire season is winding down.

VIRGINIA CITY—At its monthly meeting on Monday, September 24, the Madison County Planning Board held a public hearing to decide the fate of a 4.3-acre tract in the Yellowstone Club area of Big Sky.

ENNIS—Representatives from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) presented a new document to the public on Wednesday, September 27 that gives information on the health of several streams in the Madison River watershed.

MADISON VALLEY—The 2018 fire season led to an eight-family evacuation in the Haypress Lakes subdivision while the Monument and Wigwam fires consumed tinder-dry brush in the Gravelly Range. 

MADISON COUNTY—Over the past decade, Montana has become the home of a conflict few places in the United States see: protecting and fostering agricultural interests while at the same time protecting threatened carnivore species, most centrally wolves and grizzly bears.

BOZEMAN—Compassus, an organization that bought out Rocky Mountain Hospice in Bozeman several years ago, will again be offering its semi-annual grief support group. The group held its first meeting Tuesday, September 18, and will continue weekly through November 13.

VIRGINIA CITY—The Madison County commissioners held a public meeting on Tuesday, September 11 to begin brainstorming ideas for making Virginia City safer for pedestrians and adding more resources for truck drivers passing through.
