Writer opposes school mill levy
Dear Editor,
I want to bring the May 8th Twin Bridges school election to your attention. This election will be via mail in ballot only and will AGAIN be asking for ANOTHER mill levy. This time to fix heating and cooling issues… I ask you, don’t we, as stewards of our homes, have to set aside funds in the good times in anticipation of inevitable repair and replacement expenses? Or do we just go ask our neighbors to give us money to cover these expenses that we should have prepared for? Why do school districts, especially Twin Bridges, come to the tax payers almost every year asking for a new or renewed mill levy (that was ‘temporary’)? Twin Bridges and Sheridan already have the highest school mill levies of any in our district because in the past we have always said ‘yes’ in support of our kids. It is time we say ‘no’ as our taxes are getting so high our kids will not be able to afford purchasing and maintaining a home here and will be forced to move away when they graduate. I urge you to make sure to register and vote ‘no’ on the Twin Bridges school mill levy on May 8.
Sincerely,
Lois Bush
