Madison County Fair Board honor Nick Novich for over 20 years of service to the board

The Madison County Fair Board presented Nick Novich with a plaque for serving over 20 years on the fair board on June 20, and the Commanding General Mounter Color Guard will perform at the 2019 Madison County Fair.

Novich worked with grant writers on projects to restore the historic buildings, build campgrounds, develop the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Park, and several other projects. The manager of the Fairgrounds, Dana Escott, said that his wisdom was an asset and that he was very influential in continuing the history on the fairgrounds. Novich helped expand the parking lots for the crowds as the fair continues to grow each year. He loves the flowers at the fairgrounds and one of his greatest accomplishments was planting trees, which Escott will add to this year. She was approved $500 to plant two more trees at the fairground in Twin Bridges.

The CGMCG will perform in Montana for the first time. Mostly performing in Kansas, the CGMCG has made exceptions for the last three presidential inaugural parades in Washington D.C and the Pro Bull Rider Association National Finals in Las Vegas, among a few others.

They represent Fort Riley, Kansas and the U.S. Army in a professional and polished display of cavalry horsemanship and military tradition. The men and women of the CGMCG recreate the history of the American Horse Soldier.

They will perform during three rodeo events at the Madison County Fair: Aug. 8 at 5 p.m., Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The Color Guard will also lead the fair parade on Main Street in Twin Bridges on August 11 at 10:30 a.m.
