When an unexpected Fedex package arrived on Sheridan history teacher April Wuelfing’s doorstep recently, she didn’t think much of it. With three kids and all the online shopping being done lately, she figured it was something for the kids or her husband.

Twin spirits

As any woman with children can attest, announcing your first pregnancy to your mother can be a nerve-racking experience. Twenty-three-year-old Montana native Marisa Weppner was living in Costa Rica and had recently learned she was expecting a baby. The time had come for a phone call to break the good news to her mom, Joan Hendrickson.

A dream come true

Sometimes opportunity presents itself in the most unexpected of ways. Prior to the pandemic Tony Treglia was a successful businessman, working in corporate human resources, before starting his own consulting and executive search practice. But by late spring 2020 business had all but dried up.

Outstanding in her field

Montana State University Professor and Invasive Plant Specialist Jane Mangold has spent more than two decades studying and educating Montana communities about noxious weeds. Her work locally has included outreach classes for ranchers, herbicide trials and articles in The Madisonian.

A person can get stuck in the mentality that if you grow up in a small area, you won’t have the same opportunities as others living in cities or metropolitan places. It can feel like the success of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in is based on location, not ability or passion.

Joanne Galiger has been married to her husband, Mike, for 47 years. Each of those 47 years, the couple has lived in Sheridan.
